My Best DIY Remedies for Acne Prone Skin


An acne-prone skin demands extreme care and products purchased from outside have many chemicals and substances that can run havoc on the face. When dealing with stress breakout or chronic acne, facemasks can do wonders for our skin. Moreover, when treating spots, facemasks can help kill bacteria and subside inflammation without harming our skin layers. These masks can help fight acne and also maintain the ph of the face. Good face masks also help maintain and balance oil production. Adding a facemask to our routine provides variations to our skincare and is even relaxing to the face. Now that the beauty industry is booming at unprecedented rates choosing the right face masks can be tedious. It can be overwhelming to choose the right mask for the right problem on the face. However, with multiple masks to address different areas and needs on the face, why not identify the right ingredients at home? And use them!

All you need is 1 teaspoon of oatmeal and 1 teaspoon of honey. To that, you must add ½ teaspoon of water. Your hero in this facemask is oatmeal. The DIY facemask is antioxidant-rich and helps subside inflammation. It will help calm your dry skin and further remove the dead skin cells as well. Couple with antibacterial honey, it soothes your skin. So quickly crush everything in one bowl, and lay it over a clear skin. Try leaving it for 10 mins, and your perfect skin will be evidence of oatmeal wonders.

  1. Calm your face with greek yoghurt

There are days when there is no denying that our faces could look better? But when it doesn’t, you can use this easy DIY to cool and calm your skin. It leaves your skin dewy and you glowwww! I have tried it on days when my skin starts to act up, and after using this facemask, my skin becomes more manageable and supple. All you need is 1 tablespoon of greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon oatmeal and 1 teaspoon honey. Greek yogurt has a great consistency, and it feels super smooth when applied on the face. The amount of lactic acid in greek yogurt softens the skin and the probiotics help with inflammation. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and add a little honey. Leave the mask on for 10-15 mins. And voila! Your skin will be soft and shiny!

  1. Need a dark spot busting formula?

Acne can leave a lot of dark spots on the face. However, a right facemask can help the skin to soothe and also reduce the dark spots. For that, you need the right elements and skin brightening agents. With active tea tree oil, this becomes a perfect oil-spot treatment mask. All you need is 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel and a drop of tea tree oil. No, don’t try to use tea tree oil on your face directly – it is extremely harsh. Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial agent and helps fight the acne, but with a little dilution when used moderately. But this DIY uses aloe vera, which is hydrating, to help negate the effects of tea tree oil. Use this mask on clean, dry skin and leave it for 10 minutes. Do make sure you moisturize after using this face mask.

  1. Golden turmeric acne mask

Turmeric is naturally potent and helps with everything – you name it. It is antibacterial, antiseptic and works wonders at helping with inflamed acneic skin. You need organic apple cider vinegar, ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon of organic raw honey and milk. First, start with applying the apple cider to your face. Use a small cotton ball and wipe it all over your face. After this, wait for 5 mins for the vinegar to dry. Mix turmeric powder with honey and as much milk as you need for a thick consistency. Use clean hands to apply it all over your face and neck and leave it for 15-20 minutes. After that, rinse your face with warm water. This mask can be used twice a week and is your holy grail.

When I started drinking matcha, I fell in love with the taste. But when matcha is applied to the face, the powder has healing powers. All you need is 2 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera and 1 teaspoon of matcha powder. We know aloe vera is moisturizing and naturally soothing. On the other hand, matcha helps fight inflammation and rosacea. Mix the ingredients and slather them on your face. After mixing, you can leave the facemask in the freezer for 5 minutes to add more cooling effects.

When dealing with stubborn spots on your face, you need avocado to help with skin regeneration. Avocado is loaded with anti-inflammatory and hydrating fats. They don’t even clog your pores. And honey and lemon help with hyperpigmentation. In a bowl, take 1 ripe avocado, 1 tablespoon raw honey and half a lemon. You must mash the avocado until smooth and add the other two ingredients. You can use this as a spot treatment or apply it to the affected areas. For best results, leave it on the skin for 5-10 minutes.
